Never mind that the Lee Young-Ae is bona fide world wide star with a fan base reaching Iran and Zimbabwe, the anti-diva actress likes to keep a low profile off the screen.
A MBC special commemorated the 5 year anniversary of “Jewel in the Palace” with an exclusive look at Lee Young-ae’s usually very private life. The camera crew followed the actress around as she hung out at at a bookstore, ate “triangle kim bap” from a local convenience store, and studied English at an academy and with a personal tutor. For an actress whose image paints her as a woman who only eats salad and lives a pampered existence, it was a little surprising to see how actually ordinary and dare I say “boring” her daily life is.
The MBC special also covered the actress’ fame and popularity in places like Iran and Zimbabwe where families and neighbors would gather in homes to watch the “Jewel in the Palace”.
