
Casual clothing retailer Uniqlo, subsidiary of Fast Retailing Co Ltd, plans to expand production of its Heat Tech product, a thermal undershirt which converts moisture into heat, with a focus on increasing sales in the U.S. and Europe. Miss Universe 206 runner-up Kurara Chibana appeared at the launch event, wearing the Heat Tech top under her dress. “Coming from Okinawa, I sometimes feel cold in Tokyo, but with just one of these I’m warm,” she said.
Uniqlo hopes to increase sales to 28 million units from this autumn to next spring, a 40% increase over the same period last financial year. Uniqlo President and Chairman Tadashi Yanai said he wants to make the Uniqlo brand well-known globally through products such as Heat Tech.
