On Wednesday night when he
received honorary professorship from Savannah College of Art and
Design, Jackie Chan revealed that he is producing a 30-part New Shaolin
Temple series featuring a number of finalists from The Disciple.
Jackie Chan, who just signed up 16 candidates from The Disciple, is all set to groom them.
On
being enquired, Jackie Chan's firm in Beijing confirms that Jackie Chan
is collaborating with Beijing TV to produce a modern-day version of
Shaolin Temple.
Owing to large amount of martial arts sequences,
and that the actors couldn't wear thick clothing, the cold winter is
not conducive for filming, so they're postponing production from
December 2008 to spring 2009. While the director has not been
determined, the cast will be picked from the top 30 finalists from The
Disciple, with priority being given to the 16 who are signed to Jackie
Chan's talent agency. Jackie Chan Stunt Team will provide martial arts
choreography. A few celebrated action stars will be invited to
make guest appearances in Shaolin Temple. While Jackie Chan has
expressed possibility of him doing a cameo role too, the chance is slim
owing to his busy schedule. However, he will personally be the producer.
The script is being worked on, and Shaolin Temple series will be set in
contemporary times. Apart New Shaolin Temple, a few films with the new
blood in mind are being planned too. Zhejiang Online, Sina

when she went to the washroom. After the dinner, Brigitte went back to
the hotel to rest. Jackie himself went back to The Grand Hyatt Hotel in

upset about his small role in the Beijing Olympics' opening and closing
ceremonies because he was happy to play any part in promoting the games. The
world's best-known ethnic Chinese movie idol sang along with other

on retired Chinese gymnast Li Ning who soared suspended by wires around
the upper, inner rim of the Bird's Nest Stadium to light the Olympic
cauldron. "I don't question my role. When the Beijing
Organizing Committee beckons, I'm there," the 54-year-old actor known
for his daredevil stunts said Wednesday, noting that he passed on two
