There had been an uproar over Han Ye Seul sudden departure in the midst of the 7th Korean Film Awards last Thursday (4th December) for which she gave an official apology today. During the 7th Korean Film Awards, Han Ye Seul left the awards ceremony after the first half, leading to widespread speculation that the reason was because she didn’t win the Best New Actress award.

Han Ye Seul posted on her Cyworld minihompy today with the heading, words that I would like to say to my fans. “Sorry for disappointing everyone at the last movie festival of 2008, Korean Film Awards. I am also hurting because I made a really big mistake. After wrapping up filming for Tazza, my schedule has been really jam packed with activities. Frankly, I am very tired. When I thought of the fact that I had an interview to do after the awards ceremony, I decided to make a move first. Thinking back, maybe I shouldn’t have done that.”

Han Ye-seul may have gotten lots of raves about her glamorous entrance at the recent Korean Film Awards, but now she has to deal with reaction to her ungracious exit. Han left while the ceremony was still in progress, which was perceived by many to be rude and disrespectful — particularly because it came just after she lost the award for Best New Actress to Seo Woo (Crush and Blush).

Han was also up for the award, but walked out as soon as the winner was announced; the timing reflected poorly on Han, making it appear she left because she was upset at losing the award. Her departure led to comments that she was unable to be gracious and congratulate her colleague

Han finally spoke out on her homepage, posting up an apology on December 7, saying, “I’ve tried so hard to be careful about my actions, but I made a big mistake… I’m greatly upset that I caused people to be disappointed in me.” Han explained that she had been feeling tired from all the continuous filming of her recently ended drama Tazza.

Han Ye Seul, who plays in the current ongoing gambling themed drama “Tazza“, has received criticism for her unnatural or rather weird Pusan dialect. Han Ye Seul is terribly upset by this and expressed, “I have spent a lot of time practicing speaking the dialect. But now my heart is devastated looking at those negative comments”.

Apart from Han Ye Seul, the two Pusan-borned actors Jang Hyuk and Kim Min Joon were also not spared. They were also criticised for a certain degree of unnatural Pusan dialect, though not as serious as Han Ye Seul. The character that Han Ye Seul played was borned in Seoul, therefore the need to speak Pusan dialect is unnecessary. However due to a change in environment later on, she was required to speak the dialect.
