No doubt MBC is loath to relinquish one of its few successes in a pretty drab year. They are now in talks to extend the Wednesday-Thursday classical-music drama Beethoven Virus, which is performing well at first place in its slot.

An MBC rep explained, “We’re talking of extending the series by two or three episodes. We still have yet to settle the issue with the actors.” If the extension is greenlit, the drama (which has aired half of its intended 16-episode run) may finish with a final count of 19 episodes instead.

Note also that only one episode will air next week; a soccer game will push the 11th episode to October 16 (instead of Wednesday the 15th).

Famous classical compositions that have been inserted into MBC drama, Beethoven Virus will released in a compilation album due out on October 2nd.

The CD will be split into 2 CD’s with a total of 21 classical tracks. The first CD will feature violinist Sarasate’s excellent composition, “Zigeunerweisen” which is featured in many of the scenes of character Du Ru Mi (Lee Ji Ah).

And the second CD will feature Dvořák’s symphony, “From the New World,” the 2nd movement. Rimsky-Korsakoff’s “Flight of the Bumble Bee” will also be featured in the CD.

With less than a week to go, MBC has started it’s publicity drive by releasing the trailer and stills for it’s drama “Beethoven Virus” (I like that name) which revolves around an orchestra and stories involving the people playing the various instruments. The still of Kang Gun Woo (Jang Geun Seuk) meeting Du Ru Mi (Lee Ji Ah) in the subway one day by destiny got the most attention.

In the photos, the beautiful scene of Du Ru Mi playing the violin while Kang Gun Woo plays the trumpet left viewers dazzled. In the drama, Kang Gun Woo doesn’t know about his in-born musical talent and only until the appearance of Du Ru Mi one day leaves him to discover that he is actually alive. Without any proper music training beforehand, Kang Gun Woo is bought into the orchestra and with the help of Du Ri Mi, they become the best partners and players.

Jang Geun Seuk and Lee Ji Ah will also appear at the “Beethoven Virus” press conference as MCs on 4th September with the latter set to play the violin to show her hardwork in learning it
