Bernice Liu dressed up as a fairy when she attended the opening ceremony for "MegaBox 4D Dome Garden" in Kowloon Bay yesterday. Talkng about Stephen Chan who was arrested by ICAC for the allegation of corruption, Bernice expressed that she was shocked. She revealed that so many people asked her about it, but she was not sure what was it about? Bernice said for the past two years, she hasn't been working for TVB a lot of the time. Bernice didn't want to say too much. Reporter asked if she has been approached by the ICAC for questioning yet? Bernice replied "No." Bernice went on to say that her workload are arranged by the TVB manager. The reporter asked has she ever worked with no fees or reducd pay? Bernice said "I have to find out from the company. I hardly deal with the clients direct. I wouldn't know how either. When my friends asked me to attend a function, I would go and support them, such as attending the premier. Sometimes, I don't even get a red packet. For example, if I visit people in the hospital, I don't ask for money. I don't ask for money if it is a charity function either, or I would donate my fees to charity".

Last night Louis Cheung attended Chilam Cheung's mini concert as a guest, towards being excluded from the <Pok Oi Charity Show 2010>, he denied. Earlier there were also other jobs that he didn't do, Louis expressed: "It's a critical period, whatever is done is sensitive. TVB is such a large corporation with many programs, have their own mechanism and arrangement." It was also said that he has a contract with TVB, not appearing on their shows, is it because someone doesn't want to work with TVB?! Towards this, he responded with the phrase he made in the concert: "I am not afraid of Eason Chan, I carry a live feather with courage" explaining that he's not afraid of Eason misunderstanding. We do greet one another when we meet, because I was rushing to celebrate my wife's birthday.

Yesterday Kay Tse attended an event for iCable angering TVB and affected her husband Louis' chances in taking part TVB's program <博愛騷>. Kay denied that the issue is related to her, but she and her husband's explanations do not match. She admitted that because he became "unemployed" he had a change in jobs: "The truth I do not know, but they had a new show and still didn't use him. It was an emotionally great impact on him, it was a pretty big impact to him. (Appearing on TV networks outside of TVB, will you keep it low profile?) Singers' jobs do not involve so much politics. (Related to Stephen Chan?) I didn't ask."

A female fan had a professional camera to snap photos of Chilam's performance, she was quite a stand out. Chilam revealed that is wife Anita Yuen was backstage helping him change, good friend Sum Ka Wai sponsored the clothing and his younger brother designed the image.

Regarding to the TVB corruption case, did he have a pay reduction for his performance? He said: "I really don't know, I am a TVB contracted singer, my record company handles it." He said that he is not very familiar with Stephen, and was invited to be on <Be My Guest>. However, because of expiration, he did not accept the interview.

Yesterday Vinci Wong appeared at the horse racing course to support his father's favorite horse. Regarding Stephen Chan's release from the ICAC, he smiled: "My friend lives in the unit next to him, he said that there were a lot of people downstairs, even going out to take the taxi was a problem. I asked if he saw Stephen in his house, he said he couldn't. (Send a SMS to ask Stephen?) No, would not do that randomly, he is already troubled enough."

Asked if Edthancy (personal assistant) has offered him jobs? Vinci smiled: "He won't offer me any, there are so many favorites in TVB and I'm not part of TVB. It is not necessary to ask me, at this age, it's best for me to do my own company. (It was rumored that your good friend Angela Tong accepted ICAC investigation.) We talked on the phone, just a few words, she did not mention the investigation, I will ask her though."

It was rumored that the artists Edthancy used for their jobs had a pay reduction? Vinci said: "Sometimes artists are familiar with the behind the scenes crew or the organizer, so they talked about a price. Or maybe they are friends, so didn't accept any pay, it is hard to say if its a pay reduction or not. (Rumors say that Edthancy even profited TVB's share?) I don't know, I left 3 years ago."

The Inside Story
Rumors say that Edthancy will soon be investigated by the ICAC, Vinci exposes the inside story: "I never give out gifts because it's weird, like some people would bring mooncakes on Mid-Autumn Festival to the Producer office to pass around, it seems like trying to suck up. Or perhaps give the famous brand Hermes handbag to a female executive, I will definitely not do such thing. The most I would do is if I bump into them at the canteen, I'll treat them a drink."

Vinci continued and said that someone giving gifts to get promoted is not something strange. He said: "There are all types of people in this industry, many companies outside are the same. Someone wants to get promoted, so they give gifts to the higher levels. This time I transparently gain attention by everyone, I will not give gifts, I would only knock on the Producer's door to see if there are any jobs to do. Popular or not, its still a job. I just found out that gifts over $500 is not accepted. (You didn't know before?) I don't give out gifts, no wonder I'm not popular or promoted!"

<ICAC Investigations 2004 & 2009> broadcast replaced
Also, starting on March 18th at 11:45am, TVB scheduled to broadcast the old serials <ICAC Investigations> 2004 and 2009 series, but will be temperatory replaced by <Ghost Stories>. TVB Director of Foreign Affairs (Tsang Sing Ming) frankly said: "It's a critical period, not a good time to air ICAC series."

It was rumored that TVB recently had a reduction of over 20 million outsourcing contracts and was due to this incident. Mr. Tsang expressed that he will not respond to the rumors, to avoid affecting the investigation. However, he clarifies that TVB will not cancel the earlier <Be My Guest> press conference recording because of Stephen Chan: "There are no arrangements for a press conference because there are some guests who do not want to be interviewed." Asked when TVB city will stop the closure? He expressed that the decision will be made in the meeting this afternoon. He continued and said that he contacted Stephen earlier, but there was no service.

TVB General Manager Stephen Chan and Producer Ronald Chin recently have been involved in a corruption case. It was said that ICAC is suspecting TVB executives opened their own company and was targeting the first line TVB artists giving them salary pressures. The new company invites TVB artists to help a "friend" in shopping mall and ribbon cutting events for lesser pay, all proceeds go to the new company and not TVB. It was also said that there was some sexual harassment going on during variety shows towards the artists.

ICAC has approached several TVB artists for investigation. Because TVB ordered their artists to keep their mouths sealed, to avoid getting involved in the case, artists avoided the media including Linda Chung, Shirley Yeung and Tavia Yeung. Yesterday when the 3 ladies returned to TVB City, once they saw a large group of reporter standing outside, they quickly ran in. Linda Chung did "tai chi" and shook her head yelling "No" to the media. Tavia on the other hand was more relaxed and kept her mouth shut as she walked in. At a series promotional event, Shirley Yeung generously admitted that she was investigated by the ICAC.

Yesterday afternoon, Tavia and Raymond Lam arrived in TVB City to start shooting for new series <An Uninvited Date>, the two appeared relaxed. and waved to the media. After work, Tavia even calmy whistled! Then she attended the <A Fistful of Stances> promotion in Olympian City, and admitted that she accepted the ICAC investigation, but cannot reveal anything else. Asked if she worked for Stephen Chan and his assistant's company before? She said: "I don't know, usually my work is scheduled by my manager. (Have you gotten a pay reduction before?) Usually price is discussed by my manager, I don't do any of that stuff. (You are on the Stephen team, have your jobs been affected?) I am on the TVB team, fans split into teams themselves, that group there (referring to the fans live at the scene) are Tavia Yeung fans. (Have you called Stephen Chan?) No, I have never kept in touch with Stephen on the phone, but I do hope that he's okay, hope the incident can come to an end soon. (Have you been "patted on the shoulder" before at events?) My jobs are often managed by my manager, prices are also reasonable. If there is really "pat on the shoulder", I really don't know."

Once spotting the group of reporters outside of TVB city, Shirley Yeung quickly turned around and left. At the promotional event she attended, she admitted that she participated in giving the ICAC information. She said: "I was part of the investigations, but they just asked about work related questions. I know many other of my colleagues also went in for investigation, I cannot say too much right now. (Did you go back to TVB city the day before just for the ICAC investigation?) TVB called me and told me to go back. (Have you worked with the new company?) I don't know, my manager usually schedules the jobs. (Have you had a pay reduction before?) I cannot say, but my manager will help me take advantage of the best options. (Will you attend events with "pats on the shoulder"?) No."

Kara Hui was the latest guest for <Be My Guest> interview, is she worried that <Be My Guest> would be canceled? Kara expressed that she does not mind: "This is TVB's decision. (Have you had a pay reduction before?) Usual prices." Also, Producer Ho Siu Wai returned to TVB city, asked if she is also participating in the ICAC investigation? She said in an interesting way: "You'll know when you guys see the newspapers."

The talk of the town Hong Kong broadcaster, TVB involved in a bribery scandal, has decided not to rerun two drama series jointly produced with ICAC to educate the public about anti-corruption measures and will replace them with ghost stories.

The decision was made as the broadcaster yesterday (Sunday) said it was prepared to launch a review into its declaration and procurement systems when the bribery case was completed.

The five episodes each featuring ICAC Investigators 2004 (廉政行動2004) and ICAC Investigators 2009 (廉政行動2009), a total of ten episodes was to be rerun from Thursday, March 18th, 2010 at 11:45am lunch time drama slot on TVB Jade in Hong Kong.

They will be now replaced with ancient drama Dark Tales II (聊齋 II, “Liu Jai II”) aired in 1998 with 40 episodes, also produced by the broadcaster, a collection of ancient Chinese tales focused on the struggle between good and evil. TVB said it was not good time to re-screen the ICAC Investigators series given the current graft investigation involving station executives. "It is not an appropriate timing and we have decided to switch to Dark Tales II," said Tsang Sing Ming, TVB external affairs deputy controller, who said screenings of the anti-graft dramas would be embarrassing.

The program change was announced yesterday (Sunday) as the broadcaster's artists voiced support for greater transparency over their wages for appearing in shows - though many said they had no idea how much they were paid.

Their pay is under close scrutiny by ICAC officers who have been interviewing artists with ties to TVB. One focus of the investigation is whether their pay was intentionally decreased to suit the budgets of others in the bribery scandal.

Actress Shirley Yeung Sze Ki, who was interviewed by ICAC investigators last Friday, said she believed her employer TVB would look after her interests.
"I'm not in a good position to say anything about it," she said. "I think the company will fight for the best for me."

Actor Kevin Cheng Ka Wing said artists normally would not know how much they were paid and who produced the events at which they performed because TVB management would represent them in pay negotiations.

On Saturday, ICAC chief Timothy Tong Hin Ming advised TVB to set out clear guidelines for subcontracting jobs, establish a mechanism to select subcontractors and increase transparency of the process.

The suggestion was backed by actor Bowie Lam Po Yee who said: "Hong Kong needs more such systems. It is the right thing to do to make Hong Kong fair and just."
In response to Tong's call, TVB external affairs deputy controller Tsang said the company had intended to review its systems.

"We have had the intention of doing this but it is now not a good time to do it," he said. "We might do it after the case comes to an end."

In the entertainment circle, who would not want to have big and shocking news news that can help to create a bright future for their career. However, there are exceptions to everything. Leila, who has been focusing quite abit on stageplays in the recent years, is so low-profile that it makes her fans love and hate at the same time.. Liking her for her sincerity and down-to-earth, but dislike her for 'staying away from the rest of the world'.

Never stopped filming tv dramas

Whenever I meet up with Leila, I would always ask her about her updates at the first moment, and followed by complaining on the behalf of her fans. After all, it has been a really long time since we saw her performance in television dramas. Leila replied smilingly, "Actually I have never stopped filming tv dramas. It's just that some of the dramas have been scheduled to broadcast on local paid channels and some are mainland dramas. Thus, it feels like the exposure has been very low! However, I believe everyone can see my new drama very soon."

Leila said that following 'Rooms To Let', she will film another RTHK drama 'Love Thy Family'. This drama has already started filming and the show talks about Leila's character's feelings before and after marriage. Also in this drama are Zac Koo and Miki Yeung.

Taking part in Stageplays

As for the big plans in the future, Leila continued, "Let nature takes its course! I believe in the upcoming year I will film a couple of mainland dramas, and do some shows onstage. If there are suitable scripts and filming schedules, I will also film television dramas and movies. However, what I am certain of is that I will grab hold of the opportunity to take part in stageplay."

A brief understanding is that Leila will be taking part in an upcoming stageplay 'Eva's Birthday', so all Leila fans must take note.
