It is widely perceived that the upcoming release of Tang Wei film, Crossing Hennessy, marks the actress's return to mainland cinema after being allegedly blacklisted by the authorities for two years.

Responding to that speculation, Manfred Wong, chairman of the Hong Kong Film Awards Association, posted an article on his blog on Tuesday, revealing that William Kong, president of Hong Kong-based Edko Films, is the man behind Tang's career renewal.

The mainland actress obtained Hong Kong citizenship in 2008 following her career collapse, a then rumored authority ban edged her further from the mainland film scene after her erotic role in Ang Lee's 2007 movie "Lust, Caution" which established Tang's overnight stardom.

Tang had hardly made a public appearance, having kept a low profile since her transfer to Hong Kong.

These moves, wrote Manfred Wong, are actually a stepping stone in Tang's career salvation according to William Kong's strategy. "Entrusted by Ang Lee, Kong signed Tang Wei under his wing," Wong revealed.

Tang has worked hard on Cantonese and English in the last two years, Wong said, and even turned down the invitation from Zhang Yimou and Tian Zhuangzhuang to star in their projects, in order not to appear in mainland film.

In William Kong's opinion, Tang will fall again on any media buzz and it's essential for her to keep a low-key image.

The detailed opening timetable of Crossing Hennessy is not yet known.

Korean flower-boy band FT Island raised a wave of extreme popularity on their first visit to Taiwan, and their images during the six-day trip was also constantly changing. Offstage, lead singer Lee Hongki has the most perception of fashion and constantly plays stylist in their dormitory, often helping his members put outfits together.

During their concert, the five-member band put on a good show, emphasizing on FT Island’s real talent, and that they were not just any “idol boyband”. But when it comes to their title of “flower-boys”, all of them had positive reactions to that, stating that it was a compliment of their looks, and there are lots of goodies from being a flower-boy.

Hongki, who had a big popularity rise after his role in [You’re Beautiful], announced proudly that “because of me, Jonghun has gotten lots of good stuff!” Jonghun agreed in response, “It’s true, when you go out with him you don’t usually have to spend any money. You get food and other stuff for free most of the time, so when I go out I have to bring Hongki with me.”

In FT Island, both Hongki and Jonghun admitted that they are the ones who love shopping the most. Hongki likes dark colour schemes, and cannot resist anything with skull designs on them. Jonghun, on the other hand, prefers clean and classic styles.

Jaejin, the one who always gives a treat and is the most knowledgeable about saving up, actually does not spend much on clothes at all. He said, “I just wear whatever I see in front of me when I wake up everyday. So Hongki usually puts together something for me first.”

Seunghyun also exposed that Minhwan always wears the same clothes, because he washes them after he wears them, then wears them and washes them again in a constant cycle. The 4-D boy also said, “I like formal, branded clothing, and looking like a rich bachelor.”

However, Hongki stepped in to remind him: “But there is nothing branded in your closet!”

Despite their busy schedule, the five boys managed to do a photoshoot for this fashion column. With them clad in colourful Brook Brothers menswear, the photoshoot was fun and lighthearted, leading to the boys of FT Island lamenting that they want to go on vacation, after an entire day of accepting interviews in their hotel.

Despite their average age of 18, the members of FT Island were exceptionally conservative when it came to how their girlfriends would dress. When asked whether they would like girls to be dressed in a fresh manner or in a moderately sexy style, Jaejin replied: “I’m really scared of girls who dress really stylishly, because it feels like it’s hard to get close to them. If someone dressed like that confessed to me, I would probably reject her immediately and run away.”

As for their girlfriends, the five boys once again had the same answer: “Nope, definitely no showing of skin!”

In the announcement it was stated, “It has been confirmed that Mnet, with whom we have been discussing of long-term music source provision early this year, has violated the contract with our company. The Tiger year has gotten off to a rough start for Taiwanese singer Jay Chou.

The award-winning R&B singer recently exchanged verbal insults with Taiwanese rapper, Dog G, and got burnt by allegations from ex-label-mate, Devin Wu, who claimed that she lost her virginity to him when she was just 16.

At the Sprite Original Music Awards in Shenzhou, China, a few nights ago, the 31-year-ols sported a beard on his face. The new, masculine appearance, he explained, is because he has been “quite unlucky lately. I have to change my image to change my luck” by having an image makeover.

Luck or not, the singer maintained his streak of multiple wins at ceremonies. He was the biggest winner that night with six awards under his belt. He also won the Best Duet award with his junior, Cindy Yen.

He remained good-natured and optimistic despite the bad press. “There is a lot of strange news going on lately. It’s unlucky but the worst will come to pass because it is good news to have news. I told myself that gossip is also a good thing because it means that I am famous. However, there are some issues that need to be clarified to prevent misunderstandings.”

Since taking on more film roles with The Treasure Hunter, True Legend and his upcoming Hollywood debut as Kato in The Green Hornet, as well as producing his own superhero TV series Pandamen, the multi-hyphenate intends to return to the music industry.
As expected, Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo and former Rivermaya frontman Rico Blanco lead the winners’ circle.

Hero Jaejoong of Korean idol group TVXQ will appear in a Japanese television drama, according to a source close to the singer.

The source said in a phone call with Asia Economic Daily on Tuesday that "it has recently been confirmed that Hero Jaejoong will appear in a drama to air on Fuji TV."

The pop idol will be starring in the TV series titled "Sunao ni narenakute", written by popular television writer Kitagawa Eriko.

This will be the second collaboration between the famed writer and singer; they first met last year as writer and actor on telecinema "Postman to Heaven", which starred Hero Jaejoong and Korean actress Han Hyo-joo.

"Sunao", a story of friendship between a man and a woman who became acquaintances through Twitter, will star top Japanese actors Eita and Ueno Juri of smash hit TV series "Nodame Cantabile". Eita is set to play a newbie cameramen while Ueno will portray a temporary high-school teacher.

The series, which premieres in April, will be broadcast every Thursday at 10 p.m.

Hero Jaejoong debuted in 2004 in the five-member boy band TVXQ, one of the most successful K-pop acts in Asia. They reportedly have the largest fanbase in the world and have enjoyed great success in the Japanese music industry in particular.

The band became the first foreign artist to top the Oricon singles charts six times with their 27th single "Share the World/We are!" released last year.
