Blue Lan Zheng Long acted as a gender novelist ‘ruffian guy’ in his new drama: ‘Tou Xin Da Sheng PS Nan’ and beat Jerry Yan’s ‘Down with Love’; a despicable baddie and makes one ‘have the urge to hate’, ‘abusing people’ and this proves that if the guy is not bad, twomen does not like. And the audience realised that he has lost weight till his chin is sharper, is it due to his love has changed? His agent, Billy replied: ‘He has lost 3 kg, and he actually wanted to decline acting, and after accepting the role he has sleepless nights’.

Blue acted differently from his previous dramas, his role is a star author, arrogant, supercilious and doing the utmost use of the media, due to the role pose a great challenge, Blue Lan Zheng Long is unsure if he could perform well and intended not to accept the role. But Billy listed 10 reasons why he should accept the role and he was ultimately convinced. And this has also started the sleepless nights of Blue Lan.

I did not notice, because he even squeeze in time to act in my movie, a lot of pressure too’.

As to whether the weight loss is due to love affairs? Wang Xiao Di smilingly said: ‘Can I say this?’ Agent Billy said: ‘He is currently focusing on his work, and in the drama, he has deep feelings but not outside filming’. An epic fail indeed but not entirely his fault…..Autumn’s Concerto’s Van Ness Wu became the spokesperson for the free TTJ Bus service for the city of Taichung yesterday. He met with Mayor Jason Hu for the first time to promote their new Next Stop, Happiness public transit campaign. The two got to know each other a little better with a chit chat in English at the event. Van Ness said, “Mayor Jason Hu has a distinct personality. Very Powerful.”

Van Ness Wu was praised by Mayor Hu for his fluent English. He explained to the mayor that he had grown up in the US and returned the compliment by saying Mayor Hu’s “English is not bad” either. In response, the mayor said, “Do you know I was the foreign minister? (I do now.) You were too late! (I’m sorry.) Hey listen, the foreign minister of Taiwan gotta be something. (Yeah, definitely…) Did you know I’m graduated from Oxford? (I do now!) Haaaa! Shut up! He doesn’t know me at all. But I know him!”

In related news, the daughter of famous musician Peng Guang-Lin was arrested for using marijuana, following the recent drug bust of one of Van Ness Wu's employees. When asked about the news, he said he hasn’t done anything wrong, and is not in the position to speak on behalf of others.

Autumn’s Concerto (better known as Next Stop, Happiness in Chinese) arrived at its final stop this past Sunday. The hit drama ended with a 30-minute episode and took in an average rating of 8.07%. Fans were happy to see its lead characters, played by Van Ness Wu and Ady An, spend some quality time together, but they were also dissatisfied with the drama ending so abruptly.

The *intervals ratings (7.33% followed by 8.80%) seemed to indicate that viewers were just starting to warm up by the time Episode 21 finished. Those who patiently sat through the next drama got a little treat called P.S. Next Stop. The short special included outtakes from the finale, as well as the usual Van Ness-forgot-his-lines-again bloopers.

The successor to Autumn’s Concerto, P.S. Man (Tou Xin Da Sheng P.S. Nan), appeared to have benefited from its strong lead-in with an average rating of 4.57%. The new drama starring Blue Lan was off to a great start after being heavily promoted over the last few weeks. However, the *interval ratings showed a different story as episode 1 started with a high of 6.55% and finished with 3.35%. The first episode was rather slow and lacked the comic-timing of dramas in the same genre. This might be good news for Down With Love and Because Of You after all, since their ratings trailed behind at 2.84% and 0.46% respectively.

It remains to be seen if P.S. Man will pick things up when the other lead actor, James Wen, makes his debut next week. He has been on quite a streak with a Golden Bell-nominated performance on My Queen, a fan-favorite couple with Sonia Sui on The Happy Times of That Year, and even a cameo as Ady An’s father on Autumn’s Concerto.

HONG Kong actress Charmaine Sheh has had much luck with awards.

The 34-year-old recently won two - My Favourite TVB Female Star and one of the five My Favourite TVB Female Characters 2009 - at the inaugural StarHub TVB Awards held in January.

In her 10 years with the Hong Kong TV station, she has bagged many Best Actress and My Favourite Female Characters trophies at the TVB Anniversary Awards.

While they provide a goal for her to strive towards, Charmaine said the award ceremonies can also leave her disappointed.

'Although I'm thrilled when I win, I'm also very aware of the rules of the game after all these years in showbiz,' the former beauty queen admitted.

'So that's why I won't go out of my way to fight for an award. The results of a competition aren't something I can control. An artiste wins not just because of good luck, the script plays a part too. Otherwise it wouldn't matter how good your acting is.'

For one of her recent dramas, Beyond The Realm Of Conscience, Charmaine tirelessly mulled over her lengthy lines every day. It was tough for her not just during filming but afterwards too.

She complained: 'My head felt very heavy after filming wrapped up, like I couldn't let the drama go. I even lost sleep for close to two months. It was only after a holiday in Hawaii that I was able to fully relax.'

In the period drama, she plays Sanhao, a goody-two-shoes whose motto is to do good, speak of good things and have a good heart.

Worried

She said with a laugh that it's rare that she plays someone who doesn't stir up trouble.

She added: 'I've played good characters many times, but when I received the script for this drama, I was worried about how I should handle the role.

'I realised later that if I want Sanhao's personality to stand out, I had to rely on my co-actors. I had to find the X-factor in them and create sparks.'

Charmaine also sang one of the songs in the drama. While she has prior experience crooning songs for TV serials, she confessed that she will not cross over to singing like fellow TVB actor Raymond Lam because she's not interested in it.

Like Charmaine, the 30-year-old also took home two awards at the StarHub TVB Awards - My Favourite TVB Male Star and one of the My Favourite TVB Male Characters 2009.

And after playing good characters for close to 10years, he's looking forward to taking on baddie roles.

He said: 'I want to try roles that aren't too normal. My biggest wish is to get a role like Roger Kwok's in Last One Standing. That should be very challenging.'

Roger played a scheming murderer who pushed the blame to his cousin (played by Kevin Cheng).

Raymond also wants to act in a bitter-sweet romance and his pick for a leading lady is the gorgeous Fala Chen, who played his sister in the hit drama, Moonlight Resonance.

He explained: 'We already have great chemistry and we really want to play a pair of lovers on-screen. I think that feeling will be very intriguing.'

Wayne Lai accepted an interview at the metro city yesterday. He was talking about his time in the US and Canada during the Lunar new year. He expressed that he spent a brilliant time there, in particular when he was in Canada. For the first time, he bought fresh oysters home and opened them by himself without any help. The oysters were very cheap too. It only costed him 100 dollars for 12, that means less than 10 dollar each. Wayne said "No wonder so many people emigrated to Canada! (Are you going to send your son to study in Canada?) The entertainment guy told me I only need 80,000 Canadian dollars to have my whole family emigrated to Canada, but I have to work in Hong Kong. My son is only 12, I don't want him to go there on his own. I will think about it and decide later."

"Rosy Business II" is having its costume fitting on March 10. Waynes has read the script for the 15 episodes. He said "I play the opposite role as Sheren. I am the policeman and she is the drug dealer wanted by the police. The plot is more excited than the last series. We are preparing for a song in which I will sing with her, but the theme song will be sung by a male singer. We plan everything down to the minor details." Wayne reckoned if the main two characters can sing a song together, that would strengthen the effect of the series. Wayne was asked if there is anything he needs to be prepared for his role, Wayne replied "To lose weight! This series' background is in its 30s, people were usually not fat in that era. I get fat the moment I relax, specially after the new year. Therefore, I need to lose about 10 pound in weight."

Charmaine Sheh attended the "HK Health Check and Medical Diagnostic Center" press conference yesterday. This is her third year as the spokesperson for that center. Apart from her fees, she also gets a free body check every year. Charmaine revealed she has a regular health check every year. This is because as an artist working all hours, it is important for her to have a body check up every year. Asked if she is in good health? Charmaine replied "I am pretty healthy really; except for the fist time, my cholesterol is a bit high. It is all my fault, I like eating crabs. But now, I eat less crabs. I am older now, and I am not as brave as before. The older I am, the less time I have in life. I need to treasure my life. When I was younger, I was willing to do a lot of dangerous acts such as hung up in wire and a lot of action moment. I remember once, I was filming a scene in the hill, I stepped on the sands. I knew the sands were loose, I still stepped on them, knowing I might be in danger. But now, I am more careful. I know when to rest. I had worked about 90 episodes of series so far this year. (Did you recommend any artist to have their health check?) Sharon asked if she could get a discount. (Did you ask Moses Chan and Kevin Cheng to have their body check?) They are older than me, they can look after themselves, they don't need me to look after them."

The film <<Crossing Hennessy>>, which debuts in theaters April 1st, is the first collaboration for Tang Wei and Jacky Cheung – both artists praise each other’s performance and reveal some of the challenges they went through making this film. Because the majority of the romance scenes take place in typical Hong Kong-style cafes, both Jacky and Tang Wei indicated that at one point, they were sitting in a café booth for close to 10 hours just to film one scene. Laughing, Jacky says: “The total time I spent sitting in a café for this film is more than the time I spent the last couple years combined.” He added that because he has to sit on the hard wooden seat for such a long period of time, his back hurts when he gets home. For Tang Wei, she indicates that she sits so long that her body goes numb afterwards.

For Jacky however, the biggest challenge he faced was having to eat non-stop. One night, when shooting a scene, he actually had to eat more than 10 buns, which caused him to feel like vomiting afterwards. Jacky says that luckily, Tang Wei is a very professional actress, which has helped him a lot, since there is less need to re-shoot scenes – otherwise he would have had to eat even more buns and would have vomited for sure.

Shooting this film has given Tang Wei a chance to gain a deeper understanding of Hong Kong culture, especially the ‘café life’ that is a huge part of the culture. She also learned a lot about the terminology used in the cafes, such as “drinks only cost double” and “sitting only costs triple”. In addition, she became familiar with a lot of the typical HK café foods and developed an affinity for the café favorite ‘buttered pineapple buns’.

Last night, <EEG 10th Anniversary Star Concert> was held in Macau with EEG artists in attendance including Joey Yung, Leo Ku, Twins, William Chan, Vincy Chan, Sherman Chung, Yumiko Cheng, Wong Cho Lam and more. Korean star Lee Jun Ki and Jackie Chan also sent a clip congratulating them. All the attendees were split into Red and White groups led by Joey and Leo respectively for a singing battle. In the end, Joey's red team won.

As the leaders of the red and white team, Joey and Leo engaged in a war of words on stage causing laughter in the audiences. Leo teased and said: "Today I saw Ah Sa and noticed that she got a double chin. Then I saw Ah Gil backstage and noticed she gained some weight, losing her waist!" Leo continued: "Turns out Joey actually has two belly buttons!" Leo who was speaking nonsense, made Joey jump in anger, she said to Leo: "You have the least experience in this company (EEG), why you talking so much, and you didn't even call me Big Sister!" Joey exposed her big sister attitude making the audience laugh out loud. Later, Leo was asked if he's worried that he may have upsetted his colleagues, Leo said: "They knew ahead of time! (Ah Gil gained weight?) No! I was just joking."

Ah Gil and Ah Sa appeared on stage looking just like "Twins" and sang their old classics including <風箏與風>, <女校男生> and <飲歌>. Ah Sa said on stage: "Hello everyone, we are Twins, haven't said this word in such a long time. Long time no see, did you guys miss us?" The two then expressed their appreciation to their company giving them support and emotionally teared up. After the concert, Twins accepted an interview and expressed that it was very emotional. Ah Sa said: "Just now I saw Ah Gil's watery eyes, I almost couldn't hold it either, like a heat wave strucking my eyes. Also there were many fans who came and was really enthusiastic. Just seeing them, I'm already crying." Ah Gil frankly said that her confidence increased by the warm support Twins got, she said: "They have always supported us, I think they pictured this duet for a long time already."

Also, Joey and Wong Cho Lam appeared as a 'couple team' hand in hand as they duet a classic song together, which was the peak of the concert. Joey disguised herself as a guy and hugged Cho Lam tightly from the back, it was a very funny scene. In the end, the two were unable to hold in their laughter. As about switching male and female roles with Cho Lam, Joey implied that Cho Lam was short, she said: "If I was in front of him, then I would be covering him!" Towards Twins' performance together, Joey expressed that it was very emotional: "No matter what happened on stage, this moment belongs to them!"
