SNSD is now becoming the number 1 guest to invite to a VIP movie premier.

SNSD is using their break from the music industry to go to premiers and enjoy movies that are opening recently. The members Yuri and Sooyoung are called the most. They went to the VIP premier of the new movie "Shadow's Murder" with Sunny on the 23rd of March. They also watched the movie "Scandal in Insadong" with Hyoyeon at its premier. It is said that other movies that will come out soon are competing to have SNSD come to their VIP premiers.

One top male actor said that "I went to the VIP premier of 'Scandal in Insadong' and was really happy when I saw SNSD there" and "I want SNSD to come to my movie's premier even if I have to ask their entertainment's company staff myself" and showed his affection for SNSD.

Their company SM Entertainment doesn't seem to dislike the invites as well. It may be because members other than Yoona, who acted in 'You Are My Destiny' and currently acting in 'Cinderella Man', get to know the directors of movies and are able to become acquainted with many actors.

One SM staff said "There are instances where other entertainment companies called us to invite SNSD. But many members are just close to the actors and go the premiers for that." and "I think the members are being invited because of their bright and outgoing image."

Hong Kong actor-singer Raymond Lam Fung marks 10 years that he’s been in showbiz.

RAYMOND Lam Fung is one guy who makes heads turn when he enters a room. The phrase “tall, dark and handsome” was indeed coined with men like him in mind.

Hong Kong TVB artiste Raymond Lam Fung likes dressing in climateappropriate attire, even if it means bucking convention.

Recently, however, members of the media were staring at him for another reason.

The Hong Kong artiste showed his quirky side as he matched a fitted black jacket and pristine white shirt with tapered pants, which revealed that he was not wearing socks. That image alone got all the photographers happily snapping away.

What was the reason for this particular getup?

“This outfit is actually styled according to the occasion. The suit jacket is befitting the event, but since Malaysia is quite hot, I’m wearing ‘short’ pants instead,” quipped Lam, setting a light-hearted mood for the afternoon.

Arguably Hong Kong Television Broadcast’s (TVB) hottest male lead in recent years, Lam was speaking at a media conference introducing him as the brand ambassador for local beverage Power Root Alicafe Premium Gold.

This makes him the first Chinese and international star to be appointed as a spokesperson for the home-grown brand, which is available in 16 countries.

Targetted at the Chinese market, the Premium Gold series is a new blend of coffee with ginseng extract (Alicafe) and marine collagen (Per’l Cafe).

The 29-year-old actor-singer was very happy that the collaboration brought him to one of his favourite countries – Malaysia – to promote his favourite drink – coffee.

The coffee lover shared how he came to love coffee and how he would enjoy a cuppa on a daily basis.

“My love for coffee probably stemmed from the time I was studying in high school and had a singing teacher who loved drinking coffee.

“For me, nothing can substitute coffee. Personally, I like to make my own brew using ground coffee beans and enjoy my cuppa while listening to music. But, my working schedule does not permit such luxuries that often.”

The Xiamen-born Lam is celebrating his 10th year in showbiz with his first concert. The two-day gig will be held in Hong Kong Coliseum on June 17 and 18.

Gearing up for his concert, Lam has all his own songs on repeat in his CD player.

“I’ve been listening to my songs only as I need to memorise all the lyrics. There are so many things to prepare for the concert,” said Lam.

Having released Cantopop albums Finding Love in Memories (2007) and Your Love (2008), Lam is already working on his third Cantonese album.

“The new album is quite amusing as I’m trying to preserve my own style while exploring fresh musical direction. There will be a couple of R&B numbers, which is very unusual for Cantonese music.”

His debut album won him a string of accolades, including the coveted gold award for the most popular male newcomer at Hong Kong’s 2007 Jade Solid Gold, the best newcomer award at 2007 Metro Hits Awards and the IFPI highest album sales among newcomers.

Love with No Regrets, the title song from his second album and also the theme song of popular TVB series Moonlight Resonance, also bagged him another armful of trophies, including most searched at 2008 Yahoo! Buzz Awards and most outstanding newcomer (Hong Kong) at China’s 2008 Sprite Music Awards.

Encouraged by the slew of awards, Lam is looking forward to taking on the mainland China market.

“I hope my next album will be in Mandarin. I do wish to have a Mandarin album very soon. I hope to venture into the China market, which is much bigger,” said Lam.

Prodded further, Lam disclosed that he had also been busy filming a TV series in Shenzhen, China, for the past two months. The 30-episode serial is a collaboration between TVB and a mainland Chinese station.

He could not reveal much about the production except to add that “luckily it is a modern-day series” as even the title of the show has not been fixed yet.

The Drive of Life, which was a hit in Hong Kong, made him Favourite Actor (in mainland China) at TVB’s 40th Anniversary Awards in 2007 and snagged him multiple awards at the 2009 Astro Wah Lai Toi Awards – favourite character for his role as Wah Chun Bong and favourite On-Screen Kiss with Charmaine Sheh while another hot favourite Heart of Greed won him the favourite couple award with Linda Chung.

More recently, Lam was named best actor in a drama series for his role as Tuen Hiu Sing in The Master of Taichi at the 2009 Asian Television Awards.

With such a packed schedule, what does he like to do to relax during his free time? “I like to go jogging but then I’ll still be practising my songs. I watch movies during flights.

“Every minute and every second of my time, even when I’m resting, I’m actually working. I need to be at my best to take on upcoming challenges I’ve got for the next half of the year,” he groused cheekily.

Looking somewhat pensive, he mused hesitantly, “There are so many things I wish to learn, absorb and digest.

“But, that would just gradually add more to all those things I have in hand. Yet, that’s a good thing and I do enjoy the process of my work.”

During TVB’s Sunday night broadcast of the Hong Kong Film Awards, ATV actress Bao Hei Jing won the Best Actress award. However, the newly minted movie queen’s thanks to ATV was edited out of the broadcast. In addition, “Lifetime Achievement Award” winner Josephine Siao’s acceptance speech was also edited so much that it became fragmented. TVB was heavily criticized for being petty and for carelessly editing the awards show. TVB General Manager, Stephen Chan, yesterday immediately try to make up for the mistake. He ordered a rebroadcast of Bau Hei Jing and Josephine Siu’s acceptances speeches, to try to quell the criticism.

Derek Yee: The Work of Servants

Director Derek Yee was extremely angry after learning of the edited version of Bau Hei Jing’s acceptance speech. He said, “I’m very angry. I don’t believe that Sir Run Run Shaw and Mona Fong are this petty, it’s the servants under them that made this decision for the cuts. This is the Hong Kong Film Awards, not a TVB program. The winners’ acceptance speeches should not be cut. At the after-party, many HKFA workers were unhappy with the decision to edit, we will hold a meeting to have an understanding of the situation.”

Josephine Fong’s Acceptance Speech Fragmented

Reporters surrounded Stephen Chan when he appeared at a function yesterday. In response to the “petty” criticism leveled at TVB, he emphasized, “TVB’s standpoint is not petty. Towards this misunderstanding, I am willing to apologize and will immediately try to fix it. Bau Hei Jing and Josephine Fong’s acceptance speeches will be re-broadcast tonight on “The Scoop.”

Stephen Chan Apologizes

In response to the criticism that the awards broadcast was incomplete, Stephen Chan expressed remorse, “Our coworkers tried their best, but there is room for improvement. The awards were broadcast an hour after the live show, there was not enough time between airing and editing.” When asked about Bau Hei Jing’s thanks to ATV being edited out, Stephen Chan replied, “I don’t feel that it was because she thanked ATV that it was cut, the main issue was the time and length of the broadcast. It is definitely the wrong way to do things, if the speech cut because of the ATV mention. The company has never made any order on what to cut. This was an unsuitable handling of the matter and we will follow up on the issue.” He expressed that it was possible that HKFA will be re-broadcast. If Bao Hei Jing’s contract allows, he would like to invite her onto “Be My Guest.” When asked about Derek Yee’s remarks, Stephen Chan said, “If it caused a misunderstanding, I need to apologize. I don’t wish for anyone to be unhappy.”

Received 19 Complaints

HKFA chairman Gordan Chan expressed that a lot of winners’acceptance speeches were cut and that he received complaints. He felt that TVB’s editing was very rushed. Gordan Chan continued and said, “I’m not sure if Bau Hei Jing’s thanks to ATV were cut. Sometimes it’s hard to choose. Of course, the more that it broadcast, the better.” As to whether the broadcast rights for HKFA will be given to TVB next year, he expressed that there will be a bid on it.

Louis Fan Misunderstood to have Cursed

TVB execute Tsang Tsing Ming expressed that TVB received 19 complaints over the HKFA broadcast. The main complaint was over Josephine Fong’s acceptance speech not being broadcast in its entirety. One complaint was over Bau Hei Jing’s acceptance speech being cut. As to Louis Fan’s suspected cursing being broadcast, Tsang Tsing Ming said that under review, “Louis did not curse, he was just playing with the pronunciation of colloquial terms.” The average ratings of the HKFA was 28 points, with a peak of 29 points. It was 4 points higher than last year’s HKFA ratings.

Translator's Note: ..the Oscars are broadcast LIVE with like a 3 second delay..and TVB had an hour (and that's considered little?) What about the cut performances of Jacky & Sandy, Ivana/Justin/Janice? dry.gif
