Global Talk Show Creates Controversy

KBS2TV Monday night talkshow Global Talk Show (aka as Chit Chat of Beautiful Ladies/Minyodurlae Suda/The Beauties' Chatterbox/Talk with Beauties/Beauty Talk Show) has come in for some criticism after it's latest episode this past Monday for its questionable content which included the use of obscenities and personal privacy.

Global Talk Show is a program that shows Korean culture through the eyes of foreign women living in Korea. But some of them have moved on to becoming artistes and become a fixture on the show to gain more exposure for their own careers, drawing flak from viewers.

In the 30th March episode, some were asked to perform a special talent of theirs. Canadian guest Dominique Noel decided to perform her talent of passing a tennis racquet (without the strings) through her body. But during her performance, the camera kept on focusing on the part where the racquet goes past her chest. Another female guest then said something with double-barreled meaning, "My chest definitely can't do that." At the same time, she also passed the racquet through her body. But the camera seemed to be more concerned with whether it can go past the chest area instead of the whole body.

Another guest from America, Bianca Mobley meanwhile was chastised for her use of obscenities. Netizens were up in arms against her frequent usage of foul-mouthed words, unslightly phrases, disrespecful speaking manner. Viewers were also incensed that KBS had chose to close down the forum at Global Talk Show website, preventing viewers from airing their thoughts about the program. One netizen expressed, "The tv station is only occupied with ratings, simply casting the criticsim about the show's content to one corner.

Even with the criticisms, Global Talk Show hosted by Nam Hee Suk remained the leader for Monday night talkshows with a rating of 10.4%. Rival programs MBC Come To Play and SBS Ya Shim Man Man were 2nd and 3rd respectively with ratings of 9.4% and 9.2%.

DBSK’s Mirotic Ban Lifted

Very soon, you will be able to see DBSK's Mirotic being played on tv, radio in the original version and no more “19-only” stickers affixed on their Mirotic album.

In a ruling just passed this morning, the Seoul Court has ordered the Commission of Youth Protection to lift the ban that they had imposed on DBSK's 4th album Mirotic last November after ruling that it was harmful and detrimental to youths because of the "objectionable" lyrics. This was followed by restricting Mirotic from being played on tv and radio and only allowing those above 19 to buy the album from stores. But the ruling seemed to be rather retarded since most of the fans have already gotten the album before the ruling was passed.

In order to minimize the impact to DBSK's promotion for Mirotic, SM Entertainment made changes to the lyrics and the Mirotic clean version was used during performances:

I got you became I chose you
under my skin became under my sky

But SM Entertainment didn't admit defeat and filed an appeal on 15th December, hoping to get the ban lifted and it has taken almost 4 months for the ban to be lifted. Kind of late considering it's already April 2009 now and DBSK has since moved on with their career in Japan.

Gagwoman Park Jiseon "My ideal type is a boy like Suju Kyuhyun"

KBS 2TV "Gag concert"s gagwoman Park Jiseon has revealed that her ideal type is Super Junior's member Kyuhyun.

Park Jiseon said "I always paid attention to Kyuhyun" when she filmed a recent episode of KBS 2TV "대결 노래가 좋다" (Song battle).

When MC Hyunyoung asked her that why she liked KyuHyun, Park Jiseon said "I like the person who is gentle, pure and honest", she even said "I just want to stain him", hence make the whole studio burst out laughing.

On that episode of Song battle, Super Junior's KyuHyun, Kangin, Ryeowook, Leeteuk, Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Shiwon, Sungmin will appear.

JYP Entertainment came out to clear the misunderstandings of what seem like the still cuts to WonderGirls’ new MV.

JYPE said in a phone interview on 1st April, “The still cuts circulating on internet sites are not still cuts for WonderGirls‘ new MV. They are photos for the CF video for the girls.”

“The girls are now preparing for their American advancement. We will concentrate on their overseas activities for now. There are no plans for a new Korean album for them.”

After their separation in 2000, Malaysian singers Victor Wong and Michael Wong have been keeping their distance from each other even when they meet on stage; it was until February this year that their voices harmonize once again on Victor's concert.

Victor said it was a great feeling to be on stage together again after nine years and is full of anticipation for their next collaboration. Rain confident of winning appeal

Korean artiste Rain recently lost his court case against Hawaii concert organizer Click Entertainment; his current artiste management company said they will reveal the truth behind the cancellation in the hearing of the appeal and is very confident that they will win the appeal.

The Hawaiian organizer raised legal proceedings in both Korea and Hawaii against Rain and his ex artiste management office for cancelling his Hawaii concert two years ago. Korean judicial office expounded that the concert was cancelled because the stage prepared by the Hawaiian entertainment company was "unsafe"; if performance was carried on by force, they would face serious consequences.

'Boys Over Flowers' launched the careers of many fresh faces, including F4's Lee Minho, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Bum, Kim Joon, Goo Hye Sun, Kim So Eun, and Lee Min Jung. The series left an overwhelming impact on the pop culture and continues to make headline news even after the last episode aired. The past few months have been recognized as 'The Golden Era of BOF'.
