"Soba ni Iru ne" conquers mobile downloads

Media company Label Mobile has released its 2008 rankings for chaku-uta downloads, based on data from December 1 of last year to November 30 of this year. According to the rankings, the biggest hit of the year was Thelma Aoyama's "Soba ni Iru ne," which was #1 in six different formats.

"Soba ni Iru ne" topped the Chaku-Uta Full list, ahead of GReeeeN's "Kiseki" and Hikaru Utada's "Prisoner of Love." On the regular Chaku-Uta list, Aoyama and GReeeeN were again #1 and #2, but Kimaguren's "LIFE" edged out Utada for the #3 spot.

Aoyama's song also ranked highest in the video clip, chakushin movie, chakushin melody, and RBT formats. In addition, it ranked #1 on the Recochoku's "InTheGroove" site, which focuses on club music.

Shiori Kutsuna gets first movie role

Current Pocky Princess Shiori Kutsuna will make her movie debut next spring in "Shugotenshi," the latest effort from director Yuichi Sato ("Kisaragi"). The film first made the news back in May, when it was revealed to be the first starring role for comedian Cunning Takeyama.

The 15-year-old Kutsuna plays the tragic heroine, a high school girl who winds up involved in an internet crime and is abducted. The protagonist, played by Takeyama, is a useless salaryman who falls in love with her during his commute to work, and who ends up rescuing her. Through his heroic deed, he wins back the love of his wife (Shinobu Terajima).

In addition to her Pocky ads, Kutsuna is the current Mascot Girl for Unitika. She already has some acting experience in television dramas, including last season's "Taiyou to Umi no Kyoushitsu."

"Shugotenshi" is scheduled to open this coming spring.

Fahrenheit crazily buying houses except Wu Chun

Since Fahrenheit is endorsing Taiwan tourism, Calvin Chen has considered to prepare $US300,000 (approx. $NT9.99million) to buy a house for his parents in America; Arron will buy a grand residence worth $10million for his family including decoration costs; Dadong also wants to buy a house leaning towards the path of a landlord; Wu Chun has the finance but doesn't want to purchase a house but instead, travel everywhere overseas with his father.

To Fahrenheit, this has been a profitable year. With their wallets very full, the four of them talked of the economic outlook and how much they would have in the new year. Wu Chun said unmarried people in Brunei aren't required to hand out red packets [refers to Chinese tradition of money wrapped in red as a gift esp. during new year]. On the contrary, they can receive red packets and with money, can buy a car, holiday or enjoy life. Currently, he still doesn't want to buy a house and although being single, he doesn't need to give out red packets, he is the boss of a gym so he still must give workers red packets as a reward for their hard work. This has been predicted to cost about $NT500,000.

Dadong gives red packet and doesn't compare himself to Show Luo

This year Dadong plans to wrap an enormous 7-digit sum red packet. When asked whether is will exceed Xiao Zhu's [Show Luo] $5million that he gave his mother, he mumbled, "All the money I earn, I give to my mother." Arron Yan, who doesn't like using credit cards, has a typical cash ideology. TVXQ is Chosen for Subaru

TVXQ's Bolero has been chosen as the OST for the upcoming Japanese movie, Subaru. And no, it's not about a car, but instead ballerina's.

Subaru is based on a hit manga by Masahito Soda and the movie will be produced by Warner Bros. Japan.

DBSKer reports:
"The movie is being produced by Warner Bros. Japan and it has an impressive and a very diverse set of stars and production crew from Japan, Korea and China. Led by Hong Kong director Chi-Ngai Lee and producer Bill Kong, popular Japanese actress Meisa Kuroki plays the female lead ballerina and and Korean actress Go Ara (also under SM Entertainment, featured in HUG MV for DBSK in the past) plays her rival. These two gorgeous hazel-eyed actresses are sure to make this movie a hit! But aside a great cast, the story itself is very psychological in nature and beautiful at the same time (the feelings in the song Bolero portray this perfectly)."

The movie will be released in 2009 throughout Asia and possibly in Europe and America as well.

Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng’s emoticons win fans

To enter the youth market, more and more idol dramas are using MSN emoticons, including SETTV’s ‘Invincible Shan Bao Mei’ (無敵珊寶妹) and GTV’s ‘Love or Bread’ (我的億萬麵包). For the main actors Ariel Lin (林依晨) and Joe Cheng (鄭元暢), ‘Love or Bread’ is collaborating with MSN to come up with 10 different emoticons for the fans of the show to download. Even heavenly king Jay Chou (周杰倫) is no exception. Recently he collaborated with KK-Box to come up with his own personal emoticons. All these let the world of MSN emoticons be another place for idols to compete over.

According to statistics, any blog which contains idol’s emoticons would have over a million hits per day. In mainland China, even video downloading on the Internet offers adorable idol emoticons, becoming another way of getting ratings. For one downloading website which main target group is youths, because of these emoticons, ‘Love or Bread’ became the number one ratings hit that day.

200 fans welcome Andy at Singapore Airport

Andy Lau Wonderful World Tour 2008 will be held at Singapore Indoor Stadium on 12 and 13 December. On 10 December, Andy and his entourage's CV711 flight from Hong Kong touched down in Singapore around 7:40pm. Although the concert organizer did not announced his flight details but the amazing 200 fans which includes fans from Indonesia, Mainland China, America and Thailand still welcome him at the airport's arrival hall, creating a commotion!

Andy's flight touched down around 7:40pm, he does not want his fans to wait for him for too long thus he walked out of the custom 15 minutes later with 5-6 crew members and 10 security guards opening the path for him, his alleged girlfriend Carol Zhu Liqian is nowhere in sight.

Although barricades were set up at the airport, but it does not stop the fans' enthusiasm, the 200 fans dressed in orange T-shirts screamed out loud when they sighted Andy who seems to be in good mood as he kept smiling and waving his hands, it's the user attitude of Andy!

He was wearing a blue coat with loose cargo pants and black beret, he also wore sunglasses and carrying a haversack, he seems very relaxed. One female fan immediately gave him a bouquet of sun flowers when sighted him. Andy stopped and was initially stopped by the security bur he still managed to chat with the fan for a short while before being pulled away by the security.

In addition, Andy whom always adores his fans, when walking towards the awaiting car, he did not forget to stop and wave to the fans, he turned his head back twice. In between, he showed his childish side by showing his tongue while waving to the fans, he also hugged them, some lucky female fans even tried to kiss him, such moves surely would make some auntie fans faint!

Among the fans that welcome him at the airport, some came all the way from Indonesia, their average age is 30 years old, they travel so far to meet their idol, they also booked the same 5-star hotel that Andy will be staying!

When interviewed, Indonesian fan Emmy said that she had supported Andy for 20 years, if she had the time, she would travel to chase after Andy, she said: "There are 20 Indonesian fans came to support Andy! He is very hardworking in order to become such a multi-talent artiste, that's the reason why we supported him!" It is heard that Emmy will be watching both nights concert and the closed door fan gathering on 13 December.

Other than Emmy, fans from America, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Thailand, Philippines and other countries are here to watch his concert(s).

Andy will also have a closed door fan gathering, 300 fans will get the chance to get close contact with the heavenly king and take photographs with him. It is known that no matter where he goes for his concert tour, he would find time to meet his fans. He had always put his fans at first place, in Singapore is no exception as even though he would be having his concert on Friday and Saturday night, he will also forgo his sleeping time to meet the 300 fans on Saturday morning.

Local 20 years old female fan Cleo said that many fans either local or overseas wanted to join the gathering, thus the Hong Kong fan club used the lucky draw method to decide who is the 300 fans, "This will be my first time attending a fan gathering, I heard that he would take photograph with each and every fans, if time permits there will also be games, songs, I'm looking forward to it."

It is said that every fan that attended the gathering would need to pay $75, Cleo express: "The gathering will last around 2 hours, we will have time to get close to him, take photograph, every single fan will get to take photo with him! He's so nice to his fans!"

When asked if alleged girlfriend Carol Zhu Liqian will attend the concert, according to insider, Carol's sister and husband will be among the audience! The allegation between Andy and Carol had last 23 years, recently Hong Kong media exposed that they would be getting married in a Malaysia island next year. In his previous concert, Andy also admitted the status of Carol. It do seems that we will be hearing good news from him soon!

Actually, Carol was present in his Hong Kong finale concert early this year, thus whether she would be attending the Singapore concert will be one of the limelight. According to inside news, there is a possibility that Carol would appear in Andy's Singapore concert, "Even she's here, she would also not be on the same flight with Andy, they're too low profile! She should be arriving a few days late, but for sure Carol's younger sister and husband will be among the audience, Andy attended their wedding dinner in May this year."

Andy tickets selling as high as SIN$800

The heavenly king is here! Andy Lau will be staging his concerts on this Friday and Saturday, all tickets had been sold out, the tickets had been selling in the black market for as high as SIN$800!

Andy Lau will be staging his Andy Lau Wonderful World Tour 2008 on 12 and 13 December in Singapore, the response for both concerts had been good as all 14000 tickets were sold out within one month it went on sale. No more tickets are available, this allow netizens to seize the chance to sell off their tickets at high price. Currently on an auction site, a pair of tickets are selling at $800. Among them, one netizen is try his luck by selling a pair of tickets worth $300 at $1000.

Actually the response for Andy's 15 nights concert in Hong Kong last year was also doing very well, then crew members received threatening calls from triads whom tried to buy the tickets and sold them off in the black market. Earlier some Mainland China fans whom fail to purchase any tickets even went to the venue to set fire, the charisma of the heavenly king is unbelievable.

The entourage which includes production team, dancers, makeup artistes, hair stylist and crew members are as many as 120. Other than security guards, the organizer Unusual also hire 6 bodyguards to protect Andy 24 hours, with such entourage, indeed is a heavenly king!

As Andy is currently busy with movies, concert tours and endorsements thus he's unable to come to Singapore to promote the concert, however Andy whom always adore his fans will take time off for a fan club gathering to get close with them when he's here for his concert.

For the concert, Andy had an insurance worth ten thousands of dollars for the stage and his crew members. The organizer revealed that Andy does not want to make it big for his trip to Singapore, thus all his flights to Singapore are kept secret, keeping a low profile for his trip. The whole entourage will be staying in a 5-star hotel, other than rehearsal, he would be staying most of his time indoors. "He did not have any special request, never even mentioned what food he would like to eat, believe he will be dining inside the hotel, if he would like to order other food, we will packet back for him."

For the concert, the organizer had bought tens thousands worth of insurance, for the stage, the organizer said that it could be comparable to Rain, "The stage is huge, we need 5 days to set up the stage, the Japanese props are courier here from Taiwan, there is 7 different backgrounds, because of the huge stage, thus limited number of seats to be sold."

With the concert doing well, the organizer had been receiving calls from fans to enquiries: there will be 30 additional seats for each night. The organizer revealed that seldom concert tickets will be 100% sold out, only Jacky Cheung and A*mei achieved this last year, "The response is very good, even single seats are snapped up. We did consider of adding another night but it does not accommodate Andy and the crew members' schedule, too bad."

It is understand that other than Singaporean fans, overseas fans from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia will be also attending the concert. These overseas fans booked their tickets from Andy's Hong Kong management group, there are 2000 overseas fans.

With regards to the over the top online black market sale of the ticket, the organizer does not encourage and revealed that they intend to open 30 additional seats for each night, so be quick!

Danny Ahn back in 'Closer'

Danny Ahn is back in "Closer", reprising his theater debut in March.

The actor said he decided to try out "Closer" again, instead of going for a new one, after playing supporting roles in two other plays.

"I wanted to see how my acting has improved or changed after some time and experience", said Ahn in a press meeting on Tuesday.

A former member of popular boy band G.O.D., Ahn has been pursuing a career in acting since making his debut in the 2007 movie "Crazy For Wait" ("The Longest 24 Months"). After the movie, Ahn moved on to theater and has been building experience in acting.

The two other plays he has appeared in are "Nasaengmun" and "Beotggotdongsan" (Vishnyovyi Sad).

In "Closer", now playing in Daehangno, Ahn once again plays Dae-hyun, the attractive but selfish writer who falls in love with two women at the same time.

"I feel much more comfortable on the stage now than before, when I was busy memorizing the lines", said Ahn, laughing.

The actor scored himself 20 out of 100 for his debut performance and humbly added that he still does not feel that his acting is good enough.

But Ahn said doing the piece for the second time has definitely made him understand and interpret the role better.

"Closer" has become one of the hit plays at Daehangno over the years since premiering in 2005 in Korea. The play deals with the stories of two women and two men who are not afraid to express their frank views about love.

The play was originally created by British playwright Patrick Marber and premiered in London in 1997.

It is better known to many as the 2005 film version starring Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, Clive Owen and Jude Law,

Co-starring in the play are veteran TV actor Jeong Bo-seok and popular theater actor Ko Yeong-bin. "Closer" will be staged through Feb. 8, 2009 at SM Art Hall in Seoul. Tickets are 25,000 won and 35,000 won. To find out more, call (02) 764-8760.

Jang Nara once was Jay Chou’s concert guest; new image is pretty and lively

After Korean star Jang Nara (张娜拉) released her album ‘Dreams of Asia’(梦想) which contained songs in three different languages, other than going for promotions all over Asia, she is also busy with endorsements and acting in commercials. Not long ago, she was a guest in Jay Chou’s (周杰伦) concert. In the concert she gave all the thousands of fans present a surprise. In total, she sang four songs, letting everyone hear how much her mandarin had improved over the years. Her new album, ‘Dreams of Asia’ will be a great gift to her all her fans.

Jang Nara is now busy with endorsements, and recently her new photo diary has just been released online. This diary let her fans see a lively, fresh and pretty Jang Nara. According to Korean media reports, in the photos, she showed off her long, beautiful black hair in a braided plait. As Jang Nara has been furthering her career in China, she has put in a lot of effort to learn mandarin, just so to bring more excellent works to everyone.
