Korean young boy group [SHINee] came to Taiwan for a speedy 45 hours,
in which they rushed notices nonstop, and even went to Guang Fu Nan
Road's C-Are-Us''s bakery to volunteer. The 5 big boys were split into
3 groups, some made bread, some arranged the products on display, while
members Jonghyun and Almighty Key who have learnt Chinese before were
stationed at the cashier counter, shouting "Welcome!" in Chinese.
Almighty Key operated the cash register under the guidance of the shop
assistants but accidentally keyed in "40" instead of "44" which
prompted Jonghyun to instantly correct him in Chinese saying "It's
44!", showing how scared they are about making money losses.
SHINee,
whose average age is 17 years old, may be young, but they all have a
loving heart, and even volunteered at C-Are-Us's bakery on christmas.
They said "This is the most meaningful christmas." At the same time,
they also called out to their fans to donate the money that they use to
buy presents for them to charity instead.

Popular 9 member girl group SNSD will reveal the new music video teaser
on January 2nd. The teaser can will be posted on
www.girlsgeneration.com as well as through various other video sites.
On
31st SM Entertainment said “This teaser video announces the comeback of
SNSD and the concept is ‘Awakening’. The 25 second video will feature
SNSD members as mannequins in display window then slowly awakening.”
“The
Gee posters revealed on 26th have been smash hit with posters running
out as people collected them. This teaser video will also excite the
fans as it features the pure and bright charms of SNSD members”
This
teaser video will be released on the official homepage of
SNSD(www.girlsgeneration.com) and also on major portals such as Naver,
Daum, Cyworld, MNcast.
SNSD will release the mini album Gee on January 7th.

A COOL LOOKING MAN WITH A SINCERE HEART
When I first met
Lam Fung, he gave me an impression that he is a cool and composed
person, liken to someone who is from the affluent society, so cool that
he seemed unapproachable.
Based on the role as ‘Goon Ga Jai’, an undeniable fact is that he has risen to fame.
This
would be my second meeting with Lam Fung. In actual fact, he smiles a
lot. It’s two totally different person and I was confused for awhile as
to whether he is truly being himself. However, after spending 4 hours
with him, I can tell you this:
He is not pretentious at all. In
fact, he is an affectionate person but give him a slice of your time,
slowly but surely, you get to see the warm side of him.
When we talk about Lam Fung, what do we talk about?
Ten Years, he has come a long way
It’s
a known fact that Fung came from a well-to-do family, his father, a
property developer tychoon, is known as “Xiamen’s Li Ka Shing”. [I was
thinking : Even if he has the ‘siu-ye’ attitude, it’s understandable]
As
he stepped into the studio, he looked rather tired and he grimly
greeted the studio crew and workers. After the make-up artist and
hairstylist were done with him only did I muster the courage to
approach him. When I approached him, his eyes were shut and when he
heard me he suddenly had his eyes opened, he rolled his eyes, trying to
stay awake and nodded his head and said : [Yes, you may ask me].
I looked at him, he was still looking tired. When I posed questions to
him, I was especially careful and I went fairly slow with him.
The freezingly cold air-conditioned studio suddenly became warm because of Fung’s deep unfathomable voice.
Fung
seems to be more noticeable over the last few years. It has been 10
years ever since he got his foot on the entertainment circle as a TV
host until the present time, in acting and singing. Along the way, Fung
did not seem to be spared from baffling rumours about what he has
achieved today was purely owing to his relationship with the top
executives in the company.
But in my humble opinion, if he was
given special treatment based on his family background and relationship
with the company, why did he have to wait for 10 years?
He is
a man of few words, does not like making explanations and
clarifications to the public to dismiss rumours as he thinks that the
truth always stands. Besides luck, it is all his hard-work, persistence
and his total commitment towards his job that has got him to where he
is today.
Fung: For the past 10 years, apart from the
working experiences that I have gained, most importantly, I have learnt
about the principles of life and how to be a better person. When I
first entered the industry, I was just 18 years old, this is my first
job. My learning experiences and my perspective about life that I still
carry with me today were all imparted and taught to me by the people
around me.
Fung: I would consider myself to be rather
lucky, even though there were times I was bouncing back from the ups
and downs of life. I am very grateful that I have gotten to know a
group of friends who supported and encouraged me during those
challenging times.
Acting, There Is No End to Learning
From
[A Step Into The Past – Chiu Pun/Yeng Zheng]; [Le Femme Desperado –
Chai Fun]; [Heart of Greed – Cheng Leong] to the rating record breaking
[Moonlight Resonance – Goon Ga Jai], I believe everyone has seen Lam
Fung’s significant transformation in his acting skills. Which TV series
would Fung think that he was given recognition and gained acceptance
from?
Fung: Everyone has different views and I have not
thought about this, but I would like to know the audience/viewers’
opinion about each and every role that I play/played in each series. As
for me personally, every series presents itself with a huge space for
exploration and creativity, therefore, I put in loads of effort into
every series given to me. With that, I am able to learn different
things at different levels, for instance, with my collaborating
partners, ways of portraying certain roles and so forth.
When asked about what kind of roles that he would like to pull off, he answered assuredly :
Fung: Whether
it is my image or the role in the given series, I do not wish to be
affixed with a certain image. As a matter of fact, being a TV actor,
it’s very easy for us to unknowingly slip into the habitual
generalization of acting because when we start filming a series, we
film day and night, there is indeed very limited space for us to pause
and ponder upon what we can do to explore further and to improvise.
On
the contrary, if I am to stumble upon different things with an aim to
learn new things, I can work my brain out a little: for instance, if I
can portray the same role in different series at different stages, I
will certainly acquire different level of understanding and experience
about the given role and hence, the outcome may also be different.
I
am able to accept the same role all over and over, but I will try to
bring it out differently. In my opinion, if you wish to gain acceptance
from the viewers, you must first grasp the main gist of the series, put
all your heart and strength into it and you’d be amazed when you will
finally succeed in drawing the viewers' attention.
There
are still a great deal for me to learn and grasp in this industry,
needless to mention about the 10 years, give me another 100 years,
perhaps I will never finish learning everything. There is no end to
learning. As an actor, continuous self-learning and personal
development are important, if we do not cultivate a learning attitude,
we will be disconnected from the ever changing and advancing society.
Undoubtedly, this statement made by Fung is a useful reminder for everyone at all levels.
Goals – Let things take its own course
Fung is not someone who thinks too far ahead.
Fung: Whatever
that I do, I will let things take its own course, letting it flow by
its nature but once I have made a decision about certain things, I will
persist on. I personally think that the disadvantage of setting a
long-term goal would be if what we have set to do becomes unachievable
due to some reasons, there will be a loss of motivation to move on.
Setting short term goals and achieving them progressively will enable
us to continually experience the sense of achievement and I believe our
lives will be more fulfilled and happy.
Fung has certainly
gained much throughout the 10 years in the industry. I asked him if
there is anything that that he has lost with time. He answered without
much hesitation :
Fung: I am trying to make up to the lost
time-spent with my family members. My family members are currently
residing in China and also due to business requirements, they travel
frequently. I hope that I am able to spend more time with my family
members.
Singing – A Childhood Dream
Fung’s
healthy skin tone is very close to that of honey, no wonder he is now
an ambassador for Nugeno Men Cool. He is full of spirit and energy, I
wonder if he is an active and extroverted person by nature?
Fung: I
am an extremist. If I have no job in hand, I can stay home for 5
consecutive days. I love to stay home and laze around because home is
the most secure and comfortable place to be.
At the
same time, I do love to be around people, sometimes I will hang out
with friends, cruising out to the sea, swimming and playing basketball.
With
all these seemingly non-challenging questions, Fung started to loosen
out quite a fair bit by now and he appeared to be more relaxed. Do not
be deceived by his quiet disposition, he used to be an outgoing person
during school days and university days, he led in choirs, swimming
competition team and others. He started music lessons when he was in
junior school and during summer breaks, he took up singing lessons,
guitar lessons and even attended dancing classes.
Has he ever
thought that his childhood dream would one day become a reality? The
fact is, yes, his childhood dream has become part of his career and
life.
Towards the end of November 2007, Fung officially
embarked onto the music industry and released his first album. His
voice left off a deep impression in the minds of the general public.
This year, he released his 2nd album (Your Love), the subtheme song of
Moonlight Resonance (Love Without Regret) and as you would expect of
Fung, this song became a well-known song, sung by many.
Before
he left, I grab the opportunity to take a picture with him, he gave me
a ‘V’ sign. All's well, ends well too. I will always remember Fung for
his noble mannerisms and personality.
You say Fung is cool
and distant, I would say, he is an affectionate person but give him a
slice of your time, slowly but surely, you get to see the warm side of
him.

From our understanding, Andy Lau and Nan Ying will duet 'Happy Niu
Year' in the Chinese New Year gala show, this would be their second
collaboration since they duet 'dong Fang Zhi Zhu'.
A crew member
express that this segment is tailored for Andy, he said: "Next year is
the year of the ox, during the Hong Kong handover in 1997, he duet
'dong Fang Zhi Zhu' with Nan Ying, we're all anticipating they
collaborate again."

Deborah Lai confirmed Cecilia's second baby; Patrick Tse wants twins
Since
the "Sex Photo Scandal, Cecilia Cheung and Nicholas Tse's relationship
has gotten deeper, and even really wanted to make another baby. After
Lucas was born, rumours of another baby came flying in. Now that
Cecilia has been pregnant for 3 months, it is safe to announce her
pregnancy. (In Hong Kong, before the pregnancy is stable for 3 months,
announcing the pregnancy is not lucky and would cause a miscarriage
easily.)
Her mother-in-law, Deborah Lai and her mother reported this
happily yesterday. Deborah and Patrick Tse both stated that they are
happy with either a boy or girl and Patrick even said he would love
twins.
Cecilia Cheung, who has practically disappeared from the
Entertainment circle, Nichola Tse works hard for milk powder money, and
is also able to be at home and teach his kid. Cecilia, who stated that
she would like to have as many kids as she could now that she is still
young, was recently rumoured to be pregnant. Before her pregnancy had
been full 3 months, Deborah had hinted that she would be having a
grandchild, smiling quite a lot.
Perhaps they were scared of the
fact that it hadn't been three months yet, before, Nicholas and Cecilia
were scared to admit that she was pregnant, it was only from small
clues from Patrick, saying that he would love to have another
grandchild in the cow year. Also, recently, when reporters met Deborah
at Central, she indirectly admitted that her daughter-in-law was
pregnant. At that time, Deborah and her husband, Kong and two other
friends were having tea at The Landmark. Deborah was in a very good
mood, laughing with her friends.
Cecilia's mother hopes for a girl
A

When
Cecilia's aunt, Carol attended a charity ball the night before, she was
asked if Cecilia's mom was happy because her daughter was pregnant and
because her food business was very good, Carol stated: "Yes! She has
been very happy lately, for other things, ask Cecilia." As for Patrick,
who had just returned to Hong Kong from Mainland China, after knowing
that Cecilia's mom had already announced Cecilia's pregnancy, he
laughed: "Thank you for the news! I don't really care if it's a boy or
girl, the most important is that I can have a grandchild. I hope they
are twins this time, having four at once would be even better!"
Artists
that are born in the ox year are usually very big stars, not to mention
Jacky Cheung and Sally Yeh and the new generation's William Chan and
Chrissie Chau are also born in the ox year. Looks like Cecilia's baby

Gillian Chung's "Very Naive and Stupid" is 2008's Golden Quote
RTHK's
"2008 Crisis People Voting" (「晨光第一線2008風雲人物大選」) ended yesterday and the
results were released. Gillian Chung who was involved in the sex
scandal earlier this year, announced that she was "very naive and
stupid", this in which got 23% of the votes making her quote the "Wind
& Cloud Golden Line" (風雲金句). As for the Happy Fruit Lydia Shum got
39.8% of the votes in the category of "Wind & Cloud Passed Away
Person" (風雲故人). Joseph Lau, Yvonne Lui and Kam Bei were in second place
for "Wind & Cloud Pair" (風雲組合). Edison Chen's sex scandal pictures
also made a name as it placed in second for "Wind & Cloud Indecent
Person" (風雲亵人). Yesterday RTHK posted the results for the voting, Happy
Fruit Lydia Shum and Gillian Chung were at the top of the votes.

Yesterday Hins Cheung and Joyce Cheng were guests at
the release of the voting results. Hins felt that the "Golden Line" was

Gill is my friend, I didn't know about this Golden Quote voting. In my
point of view, I feel that its already the end of the year, don't need
to bring up these unhappy things to discuss again."
Edison Chen loses to Taiwan President Chen Shui-Bian
Edison
Chen was involved in the sex scandal at the beginning of the year, in
the end he made a public apology and announced that he will step away
from the Hong Kong Entertainment Circle. It was when he went to the U.S
did the situation died down, but turns out that he does not beat Taiwan
President Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁)'s corruption. President Chen got 51.1%
of the votes for "Wind & Cloud Indecent Person", while Edison
recieved 23.8% of the votes.
Joyce: Postively facing the crisis
Joyce
Cheng also feels that every person has been wrong before. The most
important thing is to try the best, so therefore she did not go online
to read about the sex scandal. She said: "They are already very
miserable, we shouldn't be looking." When it was announced that Lydia
Shum was the "Wind & Cloud Passed Away Person" and when the clips
of Lydia's laugh was broadcast, Joyce could not hold in her tears. She
thanked everyone for loving her mother, she said: "The whole world has
been affected by the financial crisis, but hope that everyone will
remember my mom's laughter and become happier to face the crisis."

ATV artists went to West Kowloon yesterday to deliver 300 bags of rice
to a group of elderly people. Belinda Hammett, Erica Yuen, Cindy Wong,
Kathy Ng, Angel Ho and Lawerence Lau were doing the delivery together.
Many eldery people have started waiting outside the shopping mall the
night before.
Belinda stressed that in this economy, they had
the support from sponsors to give away the rice to the elderly. She was
so grateful for that and she hopes there will be more activities like
this one. Belinda said "A lot of elderly people like to eat rice,
especially in winter, they like to eat a bowl of hot rice." Belinda
also disclosed that apart from rice, they also give them other items.
They even offer to help pay the tax bill for them. They had helped a
citizen to pay a tax bill of 3000 dollars the other day.
Erica Yuen supports this activity and she is willing to help donating money as well as helping out personally.

Anson Hu (pictured) a month ago became an exception to Taiwan's rule
that no mainlanders could give solo concerts in Taiwan. Now he'll be
one of the many.
Taiwanese Informational Department head
announced on the 24th that mainland artists will be allowed to come to
to Taiwan to record music, to perform commercially, and to hold
concerts. The control of popular music will also be switched from the
educational department to the informational department. Mainland
artists will also be allowed to apply for permanent residency in
Taiwan. In the future, mainland artists will not have to be checked in
at the police upon arrival. Furthermore, the number of mainlanders
allowed in Taiwanese-funded movies have been increased from two to five.

The day before yesterday, Rainie Yang was interviewed by the magazine
about kinship, love and also her declaration of happiness. Rainie
joined the entertainment circle when she was 16 to help pay the 10
Million dollars debt her family owed, but she didn’t feel that it was
tough, but rather she was grateful for her mother to work a few jobs to
feed the family in order not to let her sister and her suffer, last
year after she finally cleared the debt, Rainie bought a big house for
her mother to enjoy.
As for love, Rainie’s dream relationship is
to be sweet and have sparks occasionally; she also wants her boyfriend
to respect her job. As for her dream lover, Rainie disclosed that she
really cares about look, thus her boyfriend must be handsome, and if
possible, he must love himself, be mature, humorous, filial and
intimate, just like a perfect man. As for her Rainie, she felt that
‘contented and happy’ is her declaration of happiness, Rainie is not a
greedy girl, she is very contented with what she has, and if she sees
that the person she loved is happy, she would feel very happy.
