After 3 Years, SS501 Holds Fan Meeting

SS501 will hold the fan meeting on November 15th at Seoul’s Olympic Fencing Stadium, where the fan meeting will held in a mini concert format composed of 11 tracks with SS501’s hit tracks and solo numbers by the members. This will also mark the first time the project group ‘501′ will reveal itself, the group is composed of members Young Saeng, Kyu Jong and Hyung Joon.

SS501 also plans to reveals images from their soon to be released photo book ‘PHOTO 501′ containing photos that members themselves took during 6 months of activities.

“Concentrating on overseas activities, their Korean fans were disappointed because they hardly saw faces of SS501, and now they came forward with the project group,” stated the group’s representative, “The members are preparing many attractions for the fans.”

Wang Lee Hom Invited to Conduct Orchestra

People have seen Lee-Hom Wang play the guitar, bass, piano, violin, drums and erhu. But, adding to the list is his new instrument - the baton.

The Chinese-American musician will conduct Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for three shows scheduled between December 22 and 24, the orchestra's chief executive Timothy Calnin announced at a recent press conference.

Accepting a baton especially made for him, Lee-Hom said it was like an early Christmas present. He hoped attendees of the concerts would also think of the shows as a wonderful Christmas gift.

Having been trained at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Lee-Hom said he was not a stranger to the orchestral podium, and that he was looking forward to the shows where he will collaborate with Gerard Salonga, whose musical influences include Lee-Hom's idol, the late conductor Leonard Bernstein.

The concerts will be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Center Concert Hall, with tickets being sold at HK$220-580 (US$28-75).

Gillian currently studying, will conquer Taiwan next year

Ah Gil concentrates on studying, rejects a chance to work with Ethan Ruan and will conquer Taiwan next year.

Gillian Chung (Ah Gil) who has been training eagerly for her return was spotted by Taiwanese channel SEETV to participate in an idol drama with the popular Taiwanese actor Ethan Ruan. However, EEG feels that this has been too rushed and to prevent distracting Gillian from her studies, EEG has rejected the offer for her.

Ah Gil has been hidden for a long time now since the nude photo scandal and has been training very hard for her return. Lately there has been news that SEETV has spotted Ah Gil and invited her to act in Taiwanese drama “ 我的敗犬女王” but recently EEG has helped Ah Gil reject the offer. Gillian’s manager Mani admitted and stated that “We have helped Ah Gil reject it because this has been too rushed.”

Idol drama that fits perfectly
Mani revealed that the filming of the drama will start this month and due to the big rush, Ah Gil is unable to adjust to the schedule. Mani says: “Ah Gil still has many lessons to attend, our company wants her to focus on finishing all her courses first. It’s too early to prepare any work for her.” Even though Ah Gil is unable to participate in the Taiwanese drama, Mani still thanks SEETV and says “Although this year’s cooperation has been unsuccessful, we can save it for next year. SEETV said that they will create a drama that fits Ah Gil perfectly and then ask her to act in it. At the moment we’ll let her concentrate on attending her lessons”

Rain is different offcam, and reveals he suffers from claustrophobia

In order to promote his new album ‘Rainism’, Rain seems to have become more outspoken, and has become more talkative on shows. Other than revealing the type of girl he likes, he also revealed that he may be claustrophobic at times. In addition, he mentioned that he is very different in front of the camera. He laughed and said that he seems emotional in front of the camera, but is actually a humorous person.

Korea’s Rain has been on shows lately to promote his new album ‘Rainism’, and has been revealing secrets to the public. He explained that he would suffer from claustrophobia previously when filming dramas. Further more, he disclosed that he like girls who are gentle and pure, but can be tough at the same time.

During the Beijing Olympics, Rain went to the Great Wall of China which left him a deep impression. However now, he wishes to go to the hot springs in China.

He feels that men’s accessories are more important than clothes, especially watches. Whenever he goes out, he would buy watches. Nonetheless, he has not met someone whom he feels like giving a watch to. He pointed out that he would only buy watches for the hardworking him, and if he were to give a watch to someone, that person would probably be his future wife!

Previously, Rain filmed a movie ‘Ninja Assassin’, in which he had a scene where he had to enter a coffin. After filming, he was trapped in a lift for more than 2 hours. He divulged that everyone else was fine except him, and he encountered difficulties in breathing. He felt that the lift was going to descend any moment.

He also said that he has been in a relationship for 4 times, if he meets someone who suits him overseas, he will confess to her directly. He will feel disappointed if the other party doesn’t feel the same way.

Marco Ngai: "Ï'm Not Sorry For Hurting Joyce"

After dumping his girlfriend Joyce Tang who dated him for 9 years, Marco Ngai married a 22-year-old student from mainland Chongqin at the start of this year. Marco has now returned to Hong Kong and is currently filming a series for ATV titled 《法网群英》. He said he is too busy and did not keep in contact with Joyce, but he asked through a friend on how Joyce is doing. Marco asked his friend not to mention his name in front of Joyce, in case it hurt her. Rumour has it that Joyce is dating Marco's good friend Derek Kwok, Marco commented that Derek is a very good person. He also said that "I admit that I've hurt Joyce, but I'm not sorry, because everything depends on fate."

Eguchi, Inagaki, Hirosue star in "Triangle"

Fuji TV is producing a drama series called "Triangle," scheduled to air next season. Actor Yosuke Eguchi will be the star of the show, supported by SMAP's Goro Inagaki and actress Ryoko Hirosue.

The series is described as a mystery/suspense story, starting with the murder of a 10-year-old girl in 1984. 15 years later, after the case goes unsolved and passes the statute of limitations, a doctor named Ryoji Goda (Eguchi) suddenly quits from his hospital and eventually becomes a detective. In 2008, he meets a traveling artist (Hirosue) in Paris, and shortly after Goda's return to Japan, he becomes involved in the expired murder case when another detective (Inagaki) receives an anonymous phone call.

Aside from Paris, where filming is currently taking place, the show's settings also include Tokyo, Osaka, and Shanghai. The rest of the cast is said to include other top actors, young and old, including Kinya Kitaoji.

"Triangle" will premiere on January 6, airing every Tuesday at 10:00pm

Super Junior & Ara featured in Repackaged “Mirotic”

Ahra and Super Junior have come to meet with TVXQ in a the special ‘MIROTIC’ album that will be released on December 4th. On this special edition, Youngwoong Jaejoong’s ‘Don’t Cry Love,’ and Micky Yoochun’s ‘Love Goodbye Love,’ with a total of 4 new songs will be included.

Micky Yoochun’s ‘Love Goodbye Love’ is a medium tempo song that expresses the emotion of pain due to love. Actress Ahra will be doing the narration for this song.

Additionally, a different song called ‘Wish’ will be sung by Xiah Junsu and Choikang Changmin, along with Super Junior members Ryeowook and Kyuhyun for a total of four people singing the song together. The four singers with different colors will come together making a beautiful harmony.

Baek Ji Young to comeback with 7th album ‘Sensibility’

Baek Ji Young (32) will be coming back with a new vocal after her vocal surgery with her 7th album ‘Sensibility’.

Famous producer Bang Shi Hyuk was also invited to work on her comeback album.

The title song to this album will be ‘총 맞은 것처럼 (Like being hit)’.

There will also be a song ‘Modern ShinPa’ composed by Bang Shi Hyuk himself.

Other than that, ‘여자들만 아는 거짓말 (A lie that you only know women)’, as composed by singer The Name, and ‘그대의 의자 (Your Chair)’ are said to be the succeed works after hits like ‘Don’t Love’ and ‘I only need one love’.

Also in the album, collected are hit dance numbers like ‘Burden’ and ‘Dash’ and house electronica hit ‘입술을 주고’, hip hop style ‘Go’, ‘Melody’ featuring Mighty Mouth, and Latin house music ‘Sentimental City’.

MV to ‘총 맞은 것처럼 (Like Being Hit)’ will feature actor Park Jung Chul, acting opposite to Baek Ji Young herself.

Baek Ji Young’s 7th album will be released on 13th November

KBS replaces Love Letter with Lee Hana’s Peppermint

Yoon Do-hyun’s Love Letter is going off the air, but KBS is looking to fill the void with a new program, a live broadcast show to be hosted by Lee Hana (Women in the Sun). (Lee’s management explained that they are considering accepting the offer, and will make a final decision early in the week.)

The new show is operating under the tentative name Lee Hana’s Peppermint. In fact, already comparisons are being made to Kim Jung-eun’s talk show on SBS, which is performing “better than expectations,” and the two actress-led live broadcasts are headed for a showdown.

In other news, Lee Hana is also taking the radio mic with a new segment in the Saturday program “Lee Juck’s Ten Ten Club” on SBS Power FM, which will feature listener requests for memorable oldies. She’d appeared on Lee Juck’s radio program on August 14 and performed her own song live, signing and playing the piano herself. She followed that performance with another of her self-penned songs last month on Yoon Do-hyun’s Love Letter, and said, “My desire to be a singer keeps growing.”

Portrait of a Beauty looks to a Cannes premiere

The film Portrait of a Beauty opens November 13, but a more significant premiere on its horizon is a possible screening at the 2009 Cannes International Film Festival.

According to production company Yedang Entertainment, a Cannes representative was an attendee at the recent VIP preview event, who had high praise for the film and extended an unofficial invitation to show at Cannes. Portrait of a Beauty has received acclaim for its high production values and artistic cinematography, while the story tells of the “hidden life” of famous Joseon-era artist Shin Yoon-bok. (Yes, the same Shin Yoon-bok of the drama series Painter of the Wind.)

One rep from Yedang expressed the honor of showing at Cannes, saying, “Through Portrait of a Beauty, viewed as being the most ‘Korean’ of films, I’d like to show the world the excellence of Korean cinema.”

Other Korean films with strong Cannes showings include Park Chan-wook’s Oldboy in 2006 and Lee Chang-dong’s Secret Sunshine in 2007, for which lead actress Jeon Do-yeon was also named Best Actress. Portrait of a Beauty may join those illustrious ranks, but only if that “unofficial” invitation turns official. Let’s hope they don’t have to do a lot of embarrassed backtracking later.
